Orthometrix, Inc. Announces Launch of its New Galileo 2000 System

WHITE PLAINS, NY, December 23, 2002 -- ORTHOMETRIX, INC. (OTCBB: OMRX) announced today the launch of its new Galileo(tm) 2000 system in the rehabilitation and physical therapy markets. The Galileo 2000 is a powered exercise system already in use in the European, and recently introduced in the Japanese, rehabilitation and physical therapy markets. Based on patented technology, the Galileo 2000 will be marketed under an exclusive licensing arrangement. Its primary applications are for the rehabilitation of muscles, tendons and ligaments, and for the improvement of muscle strength, mobility and coordination. The Galileo 2000 is designed to (i) improve muscle strength, reflexes and joint motions in healthy individuals; (ii) exercise and/or redevelop postural muscles, joints and reflexes after injury/disease; and (iii) allow osteoarthritis and Parkinson's disease patients to benefit from exercise that can improve their mobility and/or slow the progress of their disease. In addition, the Galileo can be used to provide patients with specific exercise that can reduce incontinence. It can also allow patients with poor blood circulation (e.g., diabetic patients) to benefit from exercise which can improve blood circulation in their legs.

The Company has assembled a sales organization consisting initially of 8 regional distributors managed by a recently hired senior sales executive to market the Galileo(tm) 2000 to the rehabilitation and physical therapy markets in the U.S. and Canada. Commenting on the Galileo 2000, Reynald G. Bonmati, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Company, stated "I am particularly excited about our Galileo system as I believe that it has significant market potential. The Galileo 2000 has already become part of the standard equipment of rehabilitation centers, physical therapy practices and geriatric hospitals, first in Germany where it is manufactured and then in various countries in Europe, including Italy, Spain, Belgium, The Netherlands and Austria. It has recently been introduced in Japan to surgical centers, rehabilitation hospitals and nursing homes by Elk Corporation, as well as in Australia. In the U.S., the Rusk Institute for Rehabilitative Medicine in New York has been testing it during the past 5 years for the rehabilitation of motor functions in patients with quadriplegia, paraplegia, brain injury and Parkinsonism. Recently, significant results have been obtained by the University of Gšttingen, Germany regarding the effects of exercise with the Galileo 2000 on the reduction of stress incontinence in post-menopausal women. The introduction of the Galileo 2000 in rehabilitation and physical therapy in the U.S. and Canada represents a first major step towards our goal to reposition our Company in the attractive musculoskeletal market."

Orthometrix, Inc. markets, sells and services several musculoskeletal product lines used in pharmaceutical research, diagnostic and monitoring of bone and muscle disorders, sports medicine, rehabilitative medicine, physical therapy and pain management.
